You may have heard of Wikipedia, an on-line “open source user edited” general encyclopedia.
Now Ask Dr. Wiki has arrived. According to their site:
“Ask Dr Wiki is a nonprofit educational web site made by physicians for physicians, medical students, and healthcare providers. Its purpose is to serve as a online repository of medical information that can be accessed by anyone. Since your lab coat is only so big and you may forget everything you learned last month you need an online repository to store important facts, differentials, figures and other medical information. So he remembers everything!! Everyone is invited to contribute, edit, or add to articles on ask drwiki.”
It seems reasonable that Ask Dr. Wiki will have its share of stumbles & hostile critics, much as Wikipedia has endured. But I can’t help but cheer them on as they explore the traditional boundaries of teaching, training & the dissemination of medical knowledge.
I encourage you to go out to Ask Dr. Wiki & see what they have to say about echocardiography. If you do not like what you see you can join and improve on its content yourself.
What a concept!
